Or, if you’re looking for a bit more holiday fame, remember to head over to Vans Be Here for a chance to get your holiday wish (or marriage proposal, if you’re into that) displayed in Times Square!
When it comes to various stages of life, LocaModa represents. We’ve got those who have been married with a family for a long while, those with young children, those in relationships, those still looking for that right fit. We’ve even got a few LocaModians who have recently become engaged to be married.
So it hits a soft spot in our hearts when we see our work for Vans used as a vehicle for love.
Specifically, user SteelDeer2 (aka Cayden) used his 7.5 seconds of fame as an opportunity to tell Hannah how he really feels.
So here’s to hoping she said “Yes” and that it was in person. Because no matter how awesome it is to get your message in Times Square (and a photo to prove it), nothing beats a little face time.
Aloha…
und Guten Tag!
et bonjour!
e ciao!
とhello!
e Olá!
Kicking off this morning on the iconic Viacom Times Square jumbotron, Vans and LocaModa have launched a global cross-channel campaign in 7 languages!
Using LocaModa’s patented place-based media distribution platform, users can submit their photos and messages from across the globe by visiting www.beheretimessquare.com (or vans.com/behere) or by emailing [email protected]. Just put your message in the subject line and attach your photo! U.S. residents can also send texts to @vans + message to 87884.
Each day, a new call to action will be showcased in all 7 languages, giving users a theme for the day’s content (e.g. How do you or someone you know give back to your community?, If you could change or create one law in society, what would it be?). Users are encouraged to post their thoughts on the daily question, or in true Vans style, answer a question of their own :)
Users will receive confirmation after their message has been submitted, and will then be contacted if their message is chosen for display on the big screen. If selected, the user will receive a link to a digital snapshot of their message or photo taken by a camera mounted in Times Square. This pic can easily be shared with friends and family via Facebook or other social utilities, and users can even embed a widget showing recent messages in their own blogs.
A live video feed of the site can be found on Be Here Times Square and on the official on the Vans site. The Be Here website supports English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese, making this the first global social media campaign of its kind.
I think it’s pretty clear that Vans is distinguishing themselves as quite the groundbreaking global brand-
and yet the classic checkered slip-ons are still the coolest shoes around.
While the rest of the LocaModa team deals with the ice and cold of the Northeast, our CEO Stephen Randall is living it upnetworking and speaking out in LA at the Interactive Local Media Conference, held by BIA/Kelsey at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel.
Stephen’s panel is entitled “Digital Out-of-Home: Expanding the Interactive Experience for the Consumer,” and kicks off at 10:45 on Friday morning (12/11).
The agenda reads: Three screens were never enough. The next big wave is the fourth screen: Digital Out-of-Home. A breakaway media category, BIA/Kelsey projects digital out-of-home spending will soar to $3.7 billion by 2013 by powering audience engagement through video screens at gas stations, on city buses and roadside billboards, and in-store. But what’s the most effective format? What are the best categories? Who are the most likely advertisers? During this panel led by BIA/Kelsey Chief Strategy Officer Rick Ducey, you will learn about the drivers and revenue pivot points. This session will also include a special digital out-of-home demo that will highlight the effectiveness of this emerging medium. Are you ready to see local media in a powerfully different way?
If you’re not so lucky to be living it upnetworking in LA tomorrow, you can participate via mobile or web by texting @ILM09 + your message to 87884 or submitting via web. You can also tweet using the hashtag #ILM09 and your messages will be dynamically pulled into the stream.
As I mentioned in my last post, while I don’t mind tooting the LocaModa horn when warranted, it’s far more fun to stumble upon great reviews and articles from our users.
One of the best I’ve seen recently is from Pontydysgu: Bridge to Learning, which describes 20 Uses for Wiffiti in the Classroom.
To contribute to this screen, just text @12568 + your message to 87884 or submit photos and messages via web.
